Now this is what I’m talking about! With Hawk Nelson’s 2nd Christmas EP the guys deliver some serious Christmas joy. Not since Relient K rocked our sugar plums with Let it Snow Baby, Let It Reindeer has there been a CCM Christmas rock project packed with this much rollicking fun and downright Christmas cheer!
I love, love, love it and have no problem demanding that you add it to your holiday music selection. Coming in just under 15 minutes, this power packed EP is just the energy burst your sagging Christmas spirit will need.
Nutty as always, the guys do a Hawkified version of the Wassil Song, which as far as I can tell is the only CCM version ever attempted. If that weren’t enough to speed up Santa’s toy production, HN’s foot stompin’, hand clappin’, banjo pickin’ rendition of Up On The House Top surely will.
Lest we all get upset tummies from overindulging on sweet, pop rock, ear candy. The band provides a nice breather with a fantastic version of the Holly and The Ivey and Silent Night. Not only do these tracks give the listener another peek at Hawk Nelson’s softer side, but it brings a welcome reminder as to what, and for whom, all the holiday hub-bub is about.
I give Hawk Nelson Christmas 4 out of 5 fully decorated and lit Christmas trees!
